About Breast Surgery
Breast Augmentation with Implants Surgery
An augmentation mammoplasty, or breast augmentation, enhances the size and shape of the breasts with implants. We offer a diverse range of state-of-the-art, safe implants including saline, silicone, and structured IDEAL implants, for customized, natural-looking implants that are tailored to your figure. The size and placement of your implant (above or below the muscle) will impact your recovery timeline and protocols.
Breast Lift Surgery
A mastopexy, or breast lift, reshapes and elevates the position of sagging breasts for firmer, more youthful contours. A breast lift can undo the sagging effects of aging and pregnancy. It can be beautifully combined with an augmentation or reduction or produce excellent results on its own.
Breast Reduction Surgery
Mammaplasty, or breast reduction surgery, removes excess fat, tissue, and skin from the breasts to reduce and reshape the breasts into a smaller, more comfortable size.
Breast Reconstruction Surgery
A reconstructive mammaplasty, or a breast reconstruction surgery, rebuilds the shape of breast to restore the chest’s appearance after a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or an accident. There are several advanced surgical techniques to address your unique needs and bring natural looking results. Reconstructive surgery can be integrated into your mastectomy or completed at a later time.
Breast Implant Revision and Removal Surgery
These procedures refine a previous breast augmentation by removing or revising implants. If you are no longer happy with the results of a previous surgery we can adjust, remove, replace, and reposition your implants to achieve your desired outcome. Recovery after a breast implant revision or breast implant removal surgery is often faster and easier than that of the initial augmentation.

Breast Surgery Recovery Timeline
Initial Recovery
After your surgery is completed, you will rest comfortably in a recovery room while we closely monitor you. Once you are stable and alert, you will be cleared to return home. You may have some swelling, discomfort, and a little grogginess early on, but not much pain. You will need the support of a trusted friend or family member early in recovery for a ride home and to help make sure you are situated and resting comfortably.
First Few Days
The priority is rest during the first couple of days after your breast procedure. You will likely feel fatigued as your body works to heal itself. It is normal to experience soreness, tightness, pain and discomfort and Dr. Bachelor will prescribe pain medication to keep you comfortable. There will be initial visible results, but they will be obscured by swelling.
You will have surgical bandages and likely be wearing a supportive bra or compression garment 24/7 to promote healing, maintain placement, and control inflammation. You will strictly limit activity during this time and avoid raising your arms above your shoulders.
First Week
As the first week progresses, pain and discomfort will peak. Bruising and swelling will gradually begin to improve. At your first follow up appointment, your surgical dressings and drains will be removed. Light movement and household activities can resume, and you will gradually increase your movements.
Weeks Two to Three
Past the first week, you will be considerably more comfortable and you will return to most daily activities and routines, including work and driving. Pain levels will decrease and you will shift to an over-the-counter medication. There will still be swelling and tightness but it will continue to decrease. The chest may have sensitivity and numbness as the nerves continue to heal. You will continue to wear your supportive compression bra/garments and limit activity levels.
Weeks Four to Eight
After the month mark, you will feel much more like yourself with a return to normal energy levels. There will be continued changes in breast shape, sensation, and swelling reduction. You will slowly ease back into full activities with a controlled, gradual return to exercise. We will closely monitor your progress in stages to reintroduce a full range of motion, cardio, upper body lifting, high intensity and impact workouts. As your incisions are fully healed, care instructions will change to minimize the appearance of scarring.
Months Two to Six
After eight weeks, you are nearing full recovery and will start to see the development of the final, more natural-looking results. Physical restrictions will be lifted and you will fully resume your normal activities. Results will continue to refine during this time with continued settling, resolution of residual swelling, and a return of sensation as nerves have healed. Scars will continue to mature and fade.
Beyond Six Months
You will enjoy your beautiful results after six months. All restrictions will have been lifted and any deep, residual swelling will have subsided. Scars will continue to fade and become more discreet past the one year mark. If you had a breast augmentation with implants, long-term monitoring will begin at this time.
Results
The body-enhancing results of your breast surgery may be noticeable immediately, but will gradually improve in the weeks after surgery. Depending on your specific procedure you will see significant results in four to six weeks and full results after eight weeks.

FAQ
What will my breasts look like after surgery?
There will be noticeable improvements immediately after surgery, but the full enhanced results will gradually develop over time. Swelling will decrease through the first month and begin to reveal your results. The final effects of your breast surgery will appear after a few months.
How long does breast surgery recovery take?
Breast surgery recovery varies depending on your specific surgical procedure. In general, the initial resting phase with significantly limited activity lasts about a week. Many patients return to work within seven to ten days. Full unrestricted return to strenuous activities and upper body lifting will happen between six and eight weeks.
How soon can I exercise after breast surgery?
Light activity, including walking, will promote healing and gradually be increased towards the end of the first week. By the one month mark, you will be increasing your exercise levels and typically full strenuous exercise including lifting and high intensity workouts is cleared between six and eight weeks.
When can I sleep on my stomach after breast surgery?
After your breast surgery you will sleep on your back with your body elevated to reduce swelling, protect the incision, and eliminate pressure on the chest. Depending on your procedure and how your body is healing, Dr. Bachelor usually allows side sleeping after four weeks and within six to twelve weeks you will be able to return to sleeping on your stomach.
How soon can I return to work after breast surgery?
It depends on your procedure and how your body recovers, but most patients return to work within 7-10 days after their surgery. For more minor revisional or removal surgeries, patients sometimes return sooner at 5 days.
