How Long Does Bellafill Last?

If you’re seeing changes to your skin that you don’t like, you might be wondering what you can do. At Eric P. Bachelor, M.D. F.A.C.S. in Pleasanton, CA, we can help. Our Bellafill treatments will offer you long-lasting and effective results for a more youthful appearance.

How Long Does Bellafill Last?

The older you get, the more changes you’re going to notice in your body. Some of the most significant changes take place in your skin. Your skin will, gradually, lose elasticity which will cause issues like wrinkling and sagging to appear. These changes can make you feel unhappy and self-conscious about your appearance.

But you don’t need to feel this way forever. Bellafill is an injectable dermal filler designed to put volume into areas where you’ve lost it while also stimulating your body’s natural production of collagen. One of the best things about this filler is how long-lasting it is, with most patients enjoying their results for up to five years.

Everything You Should Know About Your Skin

To maintain its structure and elasticity, your skin uses a protein called collagen. Collagen is naturally produced by your body in high amounts in your youth, which is why your skin used to appear smooth and full.

However, as you get older, your skin stops being able to produce chemicals like collagen as well as the protein elastin and the sugar hyaluronic acid as effectively. This is why you’ll start to see wrinkles appearing. There are two different types of wrinkles: static wrinkles and dynamic wrinkles.

Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles are the lines that you see on your face when the muscles beneath contract. For instance, when you smile, you’ll see parallel lines appear between your nose and your mouth. Once the muscles underneath are relaxed, however, the skin will smooth back out.

Over time, as your skin loses elasticity and you make repeated facial movements, these dynamic wrinkles will stop being able to smooth out effectively. This is when they become the second type of wrinkle.

Static Wrinkles

These are wrinkles that are present on your face even when the muscles underneath are relaxed. You’re likely to see these wrinkles appear as you get older, especially in areas like your chin and neck as the skin becomes laxer.

As we mentioned before, dynamic wrinkles will also, over time, become static wrinkles as your skin loses elasticity.

What Does Bellafill Do?

This injectable filler is made with an ingredient called polymethyl methacrylate beads. These tiny, purified beads will provide you with the volume that you might have lost in your skin due to aging. It also contains collagen.

Once it’s injected into your skin, your body will absorb the collagen, allowing your skin to stay elastic and reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles while also preventing more from appearing. The microspheres, however, will stay in place which will ensure that your skin remains plump and full and that you get the long-lasting results you want.

Everything You Need To Know About Your Treatment

Before Your Appointment

Before booking your appointment to receive your injections, we’ll consult with you to discuss a few different things. First, we’ll go over what your goals are, as well as your medical history. We want to help you feel confident in your decision to visit our clinic and receive this treatment, so don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

Once we’ve determined together that this is the right treatment option for you, we’ll provide you with instructions on how you need to prepare for your injections. These instructions will be simple and easy to follow. We’ll ask that you avoid certain substances like alcohol and some medications in the days leading up to your appointment to prevent bruising.

Your Appointment

Before applying the product to your desired areas, we’ll thoroughly clean your skin, removing any buildup. We’ll also mark the areas where we’re going to be applying the filler. This injectable contains lidocaine, an effective painkiller. However, if you are feeling particularly anxious, we can discuss applying a topical numbing cream to the areas too.

The treatment process will be pain-free. You will only feel a small pinch as the needle is applied. You’ll receive multiple injections of small amounts of the product at a time to make sure that your results are accurate. Depending on what and how many areas you’re having treated, you can expect your appointment to last anywhere from 15 minutes to about an hour.

Your Recovery

Because this treatment is non-invasive, you don’t need to worry about taking any time off work or stopping your daily activities as you recover. You can get back to your normal life as soon as you leave the clinic. There are just a few simple things that you’ll need to keep in mind as your skin heals.

Know that over the next few days, it will be more sensitive. That means that you’ll need to avoid staying out in direct sunlight or any extreme temperatures. If you do need to go outside, make sure you are wearing sunscreen with at least 30SPF.

What Can You Treat?

Nasolabial Folds

As you’ve gotten older, you may have noticed lines appearing between your nose and mouth. These are known as nasolabial folds. You may have heard them called more colloquially laugh lines or smile lines. They’re often some of the first prominent signs of aging to appear on a person’s face.

If you’re unhappy with the way your nasolabial folds have changed your appearance, this injectable can offer you the perfect solution. The beads in this filler will add more volume to the area while also encouraging your skin to make more collagen and keep the skin elastic.

Lips

Because your lips are one of your face’s most prominent features, the way they look will hugely affect your overall appearance. Thin lips can make you look severe and even unhealthy, along with aging your appearance. Conversely, plump, full lips are often a marker of youth and beauty.

You can use this injectable to fill in your lips and help them appear full and youthful. This is also a good way to reduce the appearance of lipstick lines, or the vertical wrinkles that appear as your lips lose volume. It can also correct asymmetrical lips.

Cheeks

The older you get, the more you’re going to notice a loss of volume in your cheeks. Hollow cheeks won’t just age your appearance, but they can also make you look sickly if they become particularly gaunt.

If you don’t like the way that your thinning cheeks are making you look, this filler can help. It will put the volume that you’ve lost back into your cheeks, helping them appear as full and round as they did in your youth. This will make your cheekbones look more defined too, and lift sagging skin to reduce the appearance of jowls.

Eyes

The skin around your eyes is more delicate than the skin on the rest of your face. Since that’s the case, it makes sense that you’d start to see major signs of aging around your eyes sooner than in other areas. You might notice that the skin loses volume, causing dark circles to form underneath and for your eyes to look hollower. You might also see lines like crow’s feet.

This injectable can add lost volume back into the area, helping your eyes look much brighter. It will also smooth out the crow’s feet that have started to appear, helping you look much younger overall.

Acne Scars

If you have ever dealt with acne, then you know how frustrating it can be. Acne can make your skin feel uncomfortable or even painful, and it can also affect your self-esteem. Once you’ve gotten rid of your acne, you may still experience some scarring which can continue to make you feel self-conscious.

One of the reasons why this dermal filler is so special is it can be used to help minimize the appearance of acne scars. Your skin will appear smooth and healthy and you’ll enjoy feeling much more confident with these scars gone.
