Have you noticed your cheeks have started to lose volume? If so, Radiesse may be the anti-aging injectable you need. This powerful injectable was designed to lift sagging cheek skin and augment sallow cheeks to rejuvenate the midface. At East Bay Aesthetic Surgery in Pleasanton, CA, we offer this injectable to help clients just like you restore their midface and self-confidence.
Can Radiesse Be Used for Hollow Cheeks?
Radiesse is a great injectable for augmenting hollow cheeks because it contains CaHA (calcium hydroxyapatite). What’s great about this chemical compound is it can be contoured and shaped after it is administered deep beneath your dermis. Its malleability makes it perfect for people who want a good deal of facial contouring and molding in addition to volumizing the area.
Additionally, it can eliminate wrinkles and fine lines and correct asymmetry in the midface. During your initial consultation, Dr. Eric P. Bachelor, MD, FACS will discuss your unique aesthetic goals with you and advise you on the appropriate dermal filler for achieving those goals.
Hollowed Cheeks: A Natural Effect of the Aging Process
Everyone experiences hollowing in their cheeks as they age. In fact, it is one of the first signs of aging and can be very exasperating to people who wake up one day and notice the accumulation of subtle, continuous volume loss. Years ago, invasive cheek augmentation was required to add volume to the midface. Today, all you need is a non-invasive treatment. Additionally, you no longer need a cheek lift to tighten loose cheek skin.
Rather, your skin can be lifted with Radiesse. Once the volume in your cheeks is restored and loose skin is tightened, you will look years younger and feel self-confident in your appearance once again.
What Is This Injectable?
As noted above, Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite. This unique ingredient facilitates the production of extra collagen, restores a significant amount of volume to the midface, and can be contoured after the injections have been administered. After this hypoallergenic chemical compound is administered, your skin starts to react to it. Eventually, the CaHA molecules and the gel the CaHA molecules were suspended in will disappear. However, the extra collagen produced in response to the treatment remains for several years.
Not Invasive
Like other injectable anti-aging products, this dermal filler is not invasive. Typically, a treatment session can be completed in fewer than 30 minutes. There is no downtime following this convenient anti-aging treatment, and the gauge of the needle used to administer the injectable is so fine most of our clients don’t ask for a topical numbing agent.
This innovative injectable is incredibly popular among people who don’t want to undergo an invasive procedure because it is so convenient and effective. Additionally, it provides incredibly durable results. Once Dr. Bachelor has a thorough understanding of your unique cosmetic goals, he will advise you on what to expect during your treatment session.
Rapid and Durable Results
Some injectables do not provide results that are apparent immediately. With this CaHA-based dermal filler, you will notice an improvement in the appearance of your cheeks as soon as your injections are complete. Individual results will vary, but you can expect to see incredibly dramatic results within seven days of your treatment session.
Note, your skin immediately starts to produce extra collagen when the CaHA is administered, but it will take a while for your skin to finish producing the extra collagen. Additionally, the results of this treatment are incredibly durable. Most injectables, including most dermal fillers, provide results that last two to six months. In contrast, the results of this treatment can last for two years. After 24 months, you may notice your ideal results fading slowly.
A Brief Note on Maintenance
For continuous results, we recommend coming in for a follow-up appointment 24 months after your first session. Since the full results will not have faded at that time, you will need a smaller dose and your appointment won’t take as long as your first appointment. More actionable steps you can take to maintain your ideal results are to follow.
What Areas Are Most Commonly Targeted for Treatment?
Most people turn to Radiesse to augment and lift the cheeks rather than undergoing an invasive procedure. However, it can also be used to enhance the appearance of other parts of the face and body. For example, it is excellent for erasing smile lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Additionally, you can erase chin wrinkles and add volume to your hands with this versatile injectable.
How Injectable Fillers Work
Injectable fillers are a popular type of treatment. They enhance the appearance of the treated area by increasing the volume in and around the injection sites. Different fillers are better suited for different areas. Be sure to communicate all of your cosmetic concerns with Dr. Bachelor during your initial consultation to ensure your treatment plan is perfect for your needs. Most commonly, dermal fillers comprise hyaluronic acid, also known as HA.
HA improves the contours of the treated area but is not as malleable as CaHA. Additionally, HA is good for hydrating the local skin. Most dermal filler appointments can be completed in 30 minutes. One thing that sets CaHA apart from hyaluronic acid is the results of treatment can last up to four times longer.
Good Candidates for This Anti-Aging Injectable?
If you want to combat the signs of aging without undergoing an invasive procedure, you will probably be considered a good candidate for this treatment. However, an initial evaluation is required to determine definitively whether this is the best injectable for you. Furthermore, you may be considered a good candidate for this treatment if you’re not concerned about age-related volume loss, but you lost a significant amount of volume due to extreme weight loss.
Additionally, you should consider this treatment if you have asymmetry in your midface, want to improve the definition of your cheekbones, or feel like your cheek skin could be a little tighter. The best candidate for this HaCA-based injectable is a physically healthy adult who wishes to improve the health of their skin and add volume to one or more areas. Additionally, he or she is committed to maintaining the health of his or her skin.
Tailored Consultation
Dr. Bachelor offers a tailored consultation to ensure each client’s treatment plan addresses all of his or her aesthetic goals. Since everyone is unique, you can expect a tailored treatment plan and white-glove service. Regardless of your cosmetic concerns, we have the solution you need for the best results.
How to Volumize Your Cheeks Between Sessions
There are lots of things you can do to volumize your cheeks between injection sessions. The following health-conscious habits can be incorporated into your daily routine easily. However, they won’t just be enhancing the appearance of your face. They will also be aiding in a more health-conscious lifestyle.
Improve Your Diet
You’ve heard the old adage, “you are what you eat.” While it may sound like a nebulous platitude, your diet really impacts the quality of your skin. If you want to maintain volumized, glowing cheeks, make sure your diet is balanced. Great foods to incorporate into your diet for the health of your skin include eggs, fatty acids, garlic, and bone broth.
Furthermore, you should include healthy portions of spinach, nuts, beans, berries, tropical fruits, and citrus fruits. Eating aloe vera is another great way to improve the health of your skin. You can purchase foods containing aloe vera or you can mix the nutritious plant into your morning smoothie.
A Word on the Power of Smoothies
We strongly recommend including fruits and veggies in your smoothies. One great thing about smoothies is they are a very convenient way to get plenty of fruits and veggies in your diet if you make seven portions Sunday morning. Simply keep the portions in the fridge until you’re ready to boost your micronutrients for the day.
Another great thing about smoothies is there are so many ways you can make a smoothie that you never have to become bored drinking them. For example, you could make a spinach, kale, aloe vera, and mango smoothie three days weekly. During the other four days of the week, you could make a strawberry and banana or blueberry and blackberry smoothie. If you make your smoothies with whole milk, Greek yogurt, or Icelandic yogurt, you can get lots of healthy protein.
Exercise Your Body and Face
You can also facilitate longer-lasting cheek augmentation by boosting blood circulation and encouraging collagen production. We highly recommend incorporating at least 1.5 hours of aerobic or anaerobic exercise into your weekly routine.
Furthermore, facial massages are a great way to unwind after a long day and increase circulation throughout your face. Finally, we recommend performing facial exercises at least three days a week. If you feel like you don’t have time to exercise your body and face, exercise your face while you’re cooking dinner. You don’t have to sacrifice any part of your usual routine to make time for facial exercises.
Throw Away the Cigarettes
We don’t have to tell you that smoking is bad for your heart and lungs. However, you may not be aware that smoking is terrible for your skin. If you stop smoking, you can keep your skin smoother, tighter, and more hydrated.
Since smoking is bad for your cardiovascular system, quitting tobacco products is an important step in keeping your body functioning as well as it should. Even if you can only reduce your tobacco consumption, your body will function much more effectively.
Wear Sunscreen
Sun exposure is bad for your skin, so if you are going to be out in the sunlight, wear sunscreen. Make sure the broad-spectrum sunscreen you are wearing has an SPF of at least 30, and make sure the lotion is not expired. To get the most protection possible, store your sunscreen in a cool, dry place. Both heat and moisture can decrease the efficacy of the sunscreen.
Drink Plenty of Hydrating Fluids
Staying hydrated will ensure your skin continues to produce as much collagen as possible. Your diet plays the largest role in how much collagen your skin can produce and how healthy your existing collagen is. Citrus fruits are essential because they contain vitamin C which is a necessary building block for collagen production. Protein provides your skin with the amino acids it needs to build collagen.
That said, when you are dehydrated, your body does not operate as efficiently as it should. Give yourself the best possible chance of success by drinking at least 64 ounces of coffee, tea, and water daily.
